Barton Hall 8-12th April 2002
Hello Everyone!
Wow! What a week Year 6 had at Barton Hall. It can only be described as brilliant, but don't take our word for it. Here is a list of words given to us by Year 6 themselves, on what they thought of their trip to Devon.
"Fantastic, wicked, cool, ace, superb, excellent, awesome, incredible, great, hard work, scary, funny, exciting, challenging, loads of fun, super, spectacular,
immensely enjoyable...."
The list goes on and on. Barton Hall proved to be a huge hit with Year 6. We were incredibly lucky with many things. For starters, we had lovely weather! Not a drop of rain all week. We had sunshine and this certainly added to the enjoyment of the week.

The accommodation was good with four children per chalet. Generous food portions were served in a spacious room, in cafeteria style.
The grounds were beautiful, with courts for tennis and basket ball, a crazy golf course and a heated swimming pool. The children frequently played football, tennis and golf during their free time.
With the variety of activities available, every child was suitably challenged. Many succeeded in overcoming anxieties and achieved something that they never believed would be possible for them. Some leapt off high ropes, others helped in group challenges. All children created a fun cartoon animation of their stay at Barton Hall.
The Thursday night disco was a HUGE hit with the children. A good selection of songs were played.
Rich managed to get Mrs Nicholl and Mrs Smith onto stage for a quick boogie!
Excellent dancing you two! Shame we didn't have a camera for that one! Miss Ali didn't dance on
stage but she did dance with the kids. An excellent night was had by all.
We were also incredibly lucky with the
instructors who were resourceful, friendly and lots of fun.
Our group leader "Matt the Hat" took us down to our meals everyday and rectified any minor problems which arose.
Our thanks go out to all the staff at Barton Hall, but especially:

Matt H - He was our group leader and was known to us as
"Matt the
Hat". He was very kind and very funny.

Yvonne - The ICT Co-ordinator at Barton Hall, who helped us with our ICT and is responsible for putting all our work onto CD.
Well done Year 6 for being a wonderful group! It was commented by various instructors that you were enthusiastic, well mannered and a treat to work with. You did Grendon Underwood School proud and we are all pleased you had a fantastic time!
